A Wildflower Mountain Wedding at Lutsen Mountains Resort in Lutsen, MN
Logan + Hailey | Lutsen Mountains Resort
There’s nothing quite like a summer wedding in northern Minnesota—especially one set at the top of a mountain. This outdoor wildflower wedding at Lutsen Mountains Resort in Lutsen, MN was overflowing with natural beauty, pastel florals, and heartfelt touches that celebrated the couple’s love for both each other and the North Shore.
A Ceremony Overlooking Lake Superior
To reach the ceremony, guests, the wedding party, vendors—and even the floral arrangements—rode the iconic Lutsen gondola lift to the mountaintop. With sweeping views of lush summer greenery and distant glimpses of Lake Superior, the ceremony location felt both intimate and breathtaking.
At the top of the hill, the couple exchanged vows between two lush ground floral arrangements, designed to feel like they naturally grew from the earth. Each arrangement tapered from taller blooms in the center—framing the couple perfectly—to gently spreading clusters of pastel wildflowers along the outer edges where the wedding party stood.
The floral palette featured soft, airy pastels including butter yellow, lavender, dusty blue, blush, peach, and creamy white. Styled to resemble freshly gathered wildflowers, the florals blended seamlessly with the natural mountain setting.
Wildflower Bridesmaid Bouquets & Dusty Blue Details
The bridesmaids wore flowing dusty blue dresses that paired beautifully with their hand-tied wildflower bouquets. Each bouquet featured pastel blooms and delicate, trailing ribbons in soft tones that moved with the mountain breeze.
The bride carried a larger, lush wildflower bouquet with chiffon silk ribbons in white and dusty blue—a perfect reflection of the wedding’s color palette. The groom and groomsmen kept the look cohesive with patterned blue shirts, tailored jackets, and wildflower-inspired boutonnieres.
To complete the look, the couple added their own element of personality: cowboy boots for both the bride and groom, with a few cowboy hats (bride and guests) making an appearance throughout the evening.
A Reception Inspired by Lodge Style & Natural Beauty
After the ceremony, guests returned inside the cozy, wooden lodge reception room—where warm textures, timber beams, and the venue’s stone fireplace set the tone for a relaxed summer celebration.
Each reception table featured a fabric dusty blue runner down the center, paired with a mix of pastel wildflower bud vases and soft candlelight. The floral elements from the ceremony were repurposed throughout the space, bringing organic color and texture to the room and tying the entire event together.
The result was a reception design that felt natural, warm, and full of charm—the perfect complement to an outdoor mountain ceremony.
A Location With Meaning
One of the sweetest parts of this wedding was the couple’s shared connection to skiing. They first met while working as ski instructors, so choosing a mountaintop ceremony felt especially meaningful. Celebrating their wedding surrounded by rolling hills, chairlifts, and the outdoor beauty they both love made the day feel personal, intentional, and truly unforgettable.
