About the Designer
Hi! I’m Beth - owner and designer at For Floral Sake
Before stepping into the world of flowers, I was an elementary school teacher. While I loved teaching, I always felt a pull toward my second job—working at a greenhouse. For 10 summers, I immersed myself in everything about it—the scent of fresh soil, the beauty of plants, and the joy of learning everything I could about gardening.
One of the things I quickly discovered? Gardeners are sharers. They love passing on their knowledge and experiences, and I was eager to soak up every bit of wisdom from the customers who came through the greenhouse doors each day. I knew I wanted to be part of this incredible community of growers and nature lovers.
When the opportunity to work at a local floral shop came along, I was both excited and (if I’m being honest) a little nervous. Greenhouse plants were familiar, but fresh-cut flowers were an entirely new world. Thankfully, I had the privilege of working with an amazing, supportive team who helped me “blossom” (no pun intended!) into a florist. I will always be grateful for the skills, experiences, and business knowledge they shared with me.
I believe that when you find your passion, you become a sponge—soaking up every bit of knowledge you can. After five years, one baby, another on the way, and the unexpected pause of the COVID shutdown, I decided it was time to take the leap and start my own business—For Floral Sake.
Oh, and just to clarify:
"Sake" (as in "For Floral Sake") is pronounced /seɪk/ (rhymes with cake), not /ˈsɑː.keɪ/ (like the Japanese rice wine). But that’s a story for another time!
Flowers are a beautiful reminder of the magic in our natural world—the colors, the textures, the scents, the delicacy. I feel incredibly grateful every day…
